Maintaining vehicles is one of the
responsibilities of the airport facility
technicians at the Grand Canyon
National Park Airport. Here is Bill
Ballard working on the engine of a
vechicle. Bill worked split shifts to keep
the airport (located 81 miles from the
nearest ADOT (Holbrook,AZ) He also was
Acting Manager, and was a certified
emergency medical technician and
certified airport firefighter. He handled
mild cases of air sicknesses to heart
attacks to in-flight aircraft problems.
He did many things from plowing snow at
4:00 am to training new employees.
